Savannah Taverns and Pubs

Savannah Taverns and Pubs

On your first trip to Savannah, you'll find so much to explore.  In our famous city, there are obvious things to do and things to see like Savannah's Landmark Tourist Attractions such as Forsyth Park and our historic squares. Much of your sightseeing is a daytime activity but in Savannah the exploration never stops.

Once evening comes, there's a whole other world to explore inside Savannah's Taverns and Pubs.

Mollie McPherson's Scottish Pub

Anyone with Scottish heritage will enjoy the true Scottish ambiance at Mollie McPherson's, located in Savannah's historic district. Of course, you don't have to be Scottish to have a great time here where the bartenders are friendly and the waiters wear kilts. This pub has been featured in USA Today's 10 Best, South Magazine, and the Savannah Morning News.

Fun fact - this Scottish pub was named after Debbie's (the owner) great grandmother. We're sure she would be proud.

Churchill's Pub

This three story British Pub & Restaurant is great for lunch or dinner. It is located at 13 W. Bay Street at the north end of the Historic District. Expansion now includes a rooftop terrace. Locally known as a great place for craft beer, wines and cocktails as well as fish and chips. Open 11am - 10pm Sunday - Thursday and 11am - 12am on Friday and Saturdays.  Serves brunch from 11am-4pm on Saturday and Sundays.

Boar's Head Grill and Tavern

Find colonial charm in this Savannah tavern that was once an old cotton warehouse in a location not far from where General James Edward Oglethorpe first landed and established the colony of Georgia for King George II. It's a charming establishment located on River Street and it has been hosting locals and tourists since 1959. Open for lunch or dinner. Specialties include seafood, steak, chops and chicken.  Some of our favorite cocktails we've enjoyed at the Boar's Head Tavern include River Street Tea, the Georgia Peach Cooler and Souther Mimosa. Winner of multiple Awards of Excellence from Trip Advisor. Owned and operated by Philip and Charlene Branan.

Tondee's Tavern

Tondee's Tavern bills themselves as a family friendly tavern with something for everyone. Located at 7 E. Bay Street, their location is perfect if you are pub hopping throughout Historic Savannah. Their menu features some interesting names for familiar food such as "The Pole Dancer," which is a 10 oz. patty, "The Other Guy's Chicken Finger Basket," and "Back River Seafood Gumbo."

Planters Tavern

This old historic brick and timber tavern is located on the basement level of the Old Pink House Restaurant on Reynolds Square. Many locals and tourists alike love spending an evening here enjoying the singing piano player. The dark and cozy atmosphere makes it an ideal location for a date. Many patrons have described this downtown Savannah tavern as romantic and quaint.
